Keystone Learning Service is looking to hire a full time Administrative Assistant for John Dewey Learning Academy (JDLA). John Dewey Learning Academy is an alternative school program located in Ozawkie, Kansas, who provides educational services to student grades K-12.
Position: Administrative Assistant for John Dewey Learning Academy (JDLA)
Reports to: Principal of JDLA
Qualifications: Post high school training or previous experience in clerical work or office management; good oral and written communication skills; average or better computer skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of information; ability to organize projects and complete accurately, ability to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment.
Duties: Include but are not limited to:
1. Assist with clerical tasks and other needs, such as making arrangements for and assisting with meetings, obtaining supplies, delivering documents, etc.
2. Assist Principal in crisis situations by contacting the police and parents when needed.
3. Administer medication as delegated by the school nurse.
4. Assist the principal with managing the food program.
5. Maintain daily student attendance.
6. Assist with orientation of new staff.
7. Participate as a member of a collaborative work group by assisting with other activities and projects as requested.
Education: High School Diploma required.
Evaluation: Will be the responsibility of the Principal at JDLA.
This will be a ten month position from August through May.

The mission of Keystone Special Education Interlocal is to provide high quality services to students, families and school districts. We have been recognized as one of the leaders in the state in the areas of Response to Intervention (RtI/MTSS), early childhood special education, and non-categorical service delivery.
Keystone Learning Services provides special education support to eight school districts: Atchison County Community Schools USD 377, Jefferson County North USD 339, Jefferson West USD 340, McLouth USD 342, Oskaloosa USD 341, Perry-Lecompton USD 343, Valley Falls USD 338 and Easton USD 449. Special education teachers, related service providers, and paraeducators are hired through Keystone. Keystone also hires special education administrators to assist schools with planning, training, and supervision of special education staff, support staff, encourage collaboration between sped and legal issues, required documentation and reporting, and allocating resources for special education. Our school districts boundaries cross into Douglas, Jackson, Jefferson and Atchison Counties, (most are located around Lake Perry).
In addition to special education services, Keystone also provides other programs and services such as: Tiny K programs in 7 counties, cooperative purchasing, internet and technology services, comprehensive staff development, Parents as Teachers in 21 school districts, WebKIDSS IEP Consortium, John Dewey Learning Academy, manage KSDE TASN grants, Autism, and Statewide MTSS.
