Assistant Director of Instructional Technology and Curriculum

 

Reports to:         Director of Curriculum

 

Job Goal:

Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising Teaching and Learning functions; promote the overall

efficiency of the school system; and, maximize the educational opportunities and benefits available to

each child.  Provides direct supervision of designated personnel.

 

Preferred Qualification/Skills:

  • Kansas License – Building Level Licensure Required; District School Administrator or District Leadership Licensure preferred
  • Advanced Degree
  • Building Principal experience preferred
  • Experience in supervision and evaluation of employees
  • Strong interpersonal skills

 

Performance Responsibilities

  • Provides professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising and evaluating the curricular and instructional technology needs of the district based on the goals of the school district.
  • Provides professional leadership in developing, organizing, and evaluating district-wide curriculum and instructional technology support.
  • Provides leadership and technical expertise to the district in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective instructional technology throughout the district.
  • Mentor, coach, and assist in the professional development of teachers and other professional and paraprofessional staff in an effort to deliver an instructional technology program throughout the district.
  • Delegates and assigns responsibilities to staff; collects, analyzes, and evaluates information; and applies basic concepts of organizational development.
  • Identifies techniques for motivating others, delegating authority, decision making, and information processing, planning, and allocating resources.
  • Participate in the leadership of the Instructional Technology Department to design systems to meet the instructional technology needs of the district.
  • Identifies problems/challenges, secures relevant information, and recognizes possible causes of conflicts.
  • Applies concepts of change, group dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and effective problem solving to resolve problems/challenges.
  • Identifies and applies various organizational leadership models.
  • Confers with staff, students, and community leaders on school problems and needs.
  • Stay knowledgeable of advancements in instructional technology.
  • Engages in long-range planning.
  • Evaluates personnel.
  • Implements Board goals and policies.
  • Articulates and supports district goals.
  • Communicates progress on district goals to various stakeholders.
  • Attends Board of Education meetings as requested.
  • Assists in the determination of types of programs needed by the schools and makes appropriate recommendations and provides support to curriculum and instruction team.
  • Plays a significant leadership role in curriculum planning and professional development and growth for the professional staff.
  • Plays a significant role in the development, implementation and monitoring of district improvement goals as a member of the Teaching and Learning team.
  • Serves as a liaison person to building principals as assigned.
  • Establishes necessary procedures for referral and cooperative planning with other agencies, both local and state, that provide services to children and/or instructional staff.
  • Communicates to the Teaching and Learning team the requirements and needs of the district as perceived by staff members.
  • Confers with appropriate administrators on matters of concern.
  • Plays a significant leadership role in fostering positive staff morale.
  • Provides leadership to assure effective instruction and student learning throughout the district.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with all staff.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  • Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.

  • Ability to speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner
  • Possess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readers.
  • Abilities to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice.
  • Ability to respond to information request in a courteous, timely and helpful manner.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communication equipment.
  • Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines.
  • Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

 

The tasks listed in the position description are subject to change at the discretion of the superintendent/designee. The incumbent is expected to take on other duties as requested or assigned by his/her supervisor.

 

Evaluation:       Evaluated annually based upon the job description and principles of effective administration leadership

 

Contract:           Twelve-month administrative contract

 

Salary:                TBD + fringe benefits
