Qualifications

-  High School Diploma or equivalent

-  Experience in maintenance, building, and grounds work

-  Valid Kansas Driver’s License & must work toward a CDL with P, S, and Air Brake Endorsements

-  Ability to read basic operating manuals and write reports

-  Ability to lead and motivate

-  Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician

-  Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports to     Maintenance Director

Supervises  All maintenance and grounds personnel

Terms of Employment  12 Months

Job Goal  To keep building and grounds in the best possible condition to induce a good working 

and studying atmosphere for both teachers and students.

Leaves   13 days sick leave, accumulative to 70 days

              3 personal days, accumulative to 5 days

Performance Responsibilities

-  Maintain school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities

-  Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines

-  Communicate effectively with all members of the school community

-  React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned

-  Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary

-  Schedule preventive maintenance activities

-  Promote the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and on school grounds

-  Conduct detailed inspections of buildings and grounds, and establish maintenance schedules for district facilities

-  Arrange services of outside contractors as needed and with permission of Maintenance Director

-  Order and maintain suitable supplies, tools, and equipment with permission of Maintenance Director

-  Assist in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of maintenance and grounds staff as needed

-  Ensure that all activities conform to government regulations protecting the health, safety, and rights of employees and the public [including but not limited to asbestos, hazardous chemicals, access to buildings by the handicapped, and playground safety]

-  See the district policies are observed

-  Other duties assigned by the Superintendent of School and Board of Education

Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions

-  Requires prolonged sitting or standing

-  May require physical exertion to push heavy objects or materials

-  Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching

-  Requires climbing and balancing

-  Must work indoors and outdoors year-round

-  Must work in noisy and crowded environments

-  May require working in and around dust, fumes, and odors

As of December 2017, Cimarron Junior High and Senior High School served approximately 300 students in grades 7-12 and the Elementary School served approximately 400 in grades PreK-6. USD has 58 teachers as well as a full support of classified staff.

Cimarron has a strong tradition of high academic standards and outstanding athletic programs, which include football, volleyball, cross country, wrestling, basketball, golf, tennis, baseball, softball, and track. USD 102 is fortunate to enjoy support from the community in all efforts to make positive differences in students lives.

Our 7th-12th grade students are participating in the 1-to-1 Learning Initiative. All of our 9th-12th grade students receive a Macintosh laptop computer to assist them in their learning. We have 1-1 iPad initiatives for 7th-8th grade students.  Ipad and chromebook carts are in the K-6th grade building.

In 2013, the patrons of USD 102 passed a $5.3 million addition to the grade school building. The bond passed 85% to 15%. This is one indication of the overwhelming support for education enjoyed by all employees of USD 102.

USD 102 is a member of the Southwest Plains Regional Service Center (SWPRSC) and the Southwest Kansas Area Cooperative District #613 (SKACD #613). Teachers receive professional development through SWPRSC while special education students are served via the SKACD organization.
