Leavenworth is a modern community which blends the best of urban and rural ways of life. Leavenworth is nestled in the rolling hills on the west bank of the Missouri River, only minutes away from metropolitan Kansas City. It is an exciting time in Leavenworth education as student achievement increases, academic rigor improves, and college/career readiness opportunities expand.  Leavenworth schools offer greater diversity than many schools in the area due to the international officers attending the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth and the Foreign Exchange Program.  Enrollment in the district is approximately 4,000 students. Leavenworth has modern and updated facilities structured with four PreK-5th grade elementary schools, a 6th-8th grade middle school, and a 9th-12th grade high school.  Leavenworth High School boasts the oldest and most successful JROTC in the country, 12 AP classes, more military appointments than any school in the area, and more than 50 clubs/sports/activities in which students may participate.  The future of Leavenworth schools is bright.  Come and be a Pioneer!
