District Technologist

USD 274 is seeking a District Technologist.  This is a 10 month job with benefits offered by the district.  Summer work will be paid hourly on an as needed basis.  Competitive salary for the right applicant.  

DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR

 

PURPOSE:                              The District Technology Coordinator provides teacher, clerical, and administrative orientation and instruction in the use of technology, maintains and supports equipment and software.  To accomplish these tasks, the District Technology Coordinator will work closely with the classroom teachers and administration of the district. 

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:    Superintendent.

 

PAYMENT:                              Monthly as established by the Board of Education.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:    High School diploma or equivalent or Bachelor’s degree.

                                                            Desire to continue career improvement.

                                    Extensive working knowledge of key computer components and operation; various operating                                                          system platforms; network environments, and the Internet.

 

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS:              To administer the network within the District and ensure it is maintained and

operating at the optimal level for the educational needs of the students and the

staff of the school district.

Create, maintain, and update district website on a regular basis.

                                    Ability to operate all technology equipment appropriately as required in a site.

                                    Ability to orient and instruct staff and students in how to use and integrate technology.

                                    Ability to provide maintenance and support for all technology equipment and networks.

                                    Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with all members of the school district, students, and community.

                                    Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.

                                    Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting                                              deadlines as assigned.

                                    Provides technical support to district computer users.

                                    Works as the lead of the District Technology Team to plan for and implement computer use among

all district staff.

                                    Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software problems as part of the district computer technology                             support team.

                                    Provides support for the district internet web services as developed within district buildings.

                                    Pursues training and staff development to keep current on technology use, support, and                                                     implementation strategies.

                                    Prepares and files E-rate application annually. 

                                    Responds to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.

                                    Keeps student and personnel information and records confidential.

                                    Works independently without continuous supervision.

                                    Ensures compliance of Federal, State and Local policies regarding technology. 

 

PHYSICAL

REQUIREMENTS:      Extensive computer use

                                                            Independently mobile; stand, walk, talk, hear, close and far vision.

                                                            Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

Occasionally lift/push up to 30 pounds.

             Occasionally work in noisy environments.

 

GENERAL

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Adhere to all district guidelines and policies.

                                    Communicate effectively with members of the school district and community.

                                    Operate all equipment as required by job responsibilities

                                    React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Board of Education.
