USD 361 Chaparral Schools in Harper County, KS was awarded a 5 year, federally funded grant to focus on improving school climate. We will aim to accomplish our goal by providing additional mental health services, character development, and pro-social programming to our students. The objective is to increase students’ connection to school by overcoming academic and non-academic challenges. The Project Director will provide leadership for grant management, as well as hands on service through direct contact with students and parents.

Job Summary

Provides grant and project oversight, and grant management; working in tandem with other school personnel to ensure all activities and initiatives accomplish their scopes of work and achieve their outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree preferred; school leadership or district leadership licensure preferred

Required Knowledge & Abilities

  • Project management experience with increasing levels of responsibility and management staff, preferably within a school, nonprofit or government agency. Demonstrated knowledge of social service, education, capacity building, finance, and organizational development.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Diligently pursues project aims, as described in the application
  • Manages project personnel
  • Maintains and retains project data and materials as required
  • Completes progress and other required reports
  • Initiates timely requests for prior approval for changes when required (e.g. change in scope of work, re-budgeting, or reduction in committed effort)
  • Requests no-cost extensions when appropriate
  • Develops sponsored project proposals in compliance with sponsor guidelines and school policy
  • Monitors project`s financial status and manages project within budget limits
  • Approves expenditures
  • Assures that expenses incurred are allowable, reasonable, and allocable to the project to which they are charged
  • Seeks prior approval for budget changes when required
  • Ensures that cost-share requirements are met
  • Reviews final financial statements
  • Other duties as assigned

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time
  • $60,000 - $80,000 annual salary range, depending on education and experience
