USD 456 - Marais des Cygnes Valley has an opening for a JH/HS athletic director for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a supplemental contract position.
The JH/HS Athletic Director will lead athletes in grades 6-12 throughout their athletic endeavors at MdCV. Responsibilities will include sport scheduling, activity budgeting, event supervision, event worker scheduling, league collaboration, KSHSAA coordination, coach/team leadership, referee coordination, amongst a number of other athletics related tasks.
Ability to build effective relationships with athletes, coaches, and parents. Ability to provide valuable leadership to sport programs. Establish beneficial collaboration with coaches. Understanding of KSHSAA requirements, athletic league workings, coaching intricacies, program development, evaluation skills, and working with board policy. Strong background in coaching.
Required: Bachelor`s degree in education. Preferred: Master`s degree in educational leadership
Candidates must hold a valid Kansas teaching license.

The Marais des Cygnes Valley school district is a 1A school located in NE Kansas (40 miles South of Topeka, 20 miles West of Ottawa, 30 miles East of Emporia, and 20 miles North of Burlington) and has two locations: Elementary School (PreK - 5) located in Quenemo, KS, and a Jr/Sr High School located in Melvern, KS. Each attendance center employs a full-time principal. Our strong curriculum covers all academic areas from at risk to college credit classes.
