QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly qualified teacher with full state of Kansas certification
  • Minimum of five years successful teaching experience with at risk or behavior challenged students.
  • Expert knowledge of intervention planning for students not successful in Tier 1.
  • Exceptional knowledge in the use of assessments and analysis of assessment data to inform instruction and prescribe work plans for individual students.
  • Expert knowledge in research based instructional strategies and ability to implement them effectively.
  • Exceptional knowledge in the use of technology to support instruction.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.
  • Ascribes to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality.
  • Demonstrates exceptional skill in the roles of a teacher leader: collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner, and learner advocate.

            The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach.  The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds.  The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people.  The employee is responsible for the work output of others.  The employee occasionally works extended hours.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities;

Assist in all matters pertaining to the development and implementation of a consistent Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model of tiered intervention processes and procedures at Westwood School.  The MTSS Coach will provide information as well as professional development to grade level, content, and elective teams, ensuring that MTSS components are established in the school.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Guide and facilitate the school in the development and implementation of MTSS models and frameworks

  1. Provide targeted, short-term coaching around specific practices and strategies
  2. Explain, model and provide feedback on effective teaching strategies
  3. Planning and preparation for Tier II and III instructional/social-emotional interventions based upon students’ needs.

5.     Work collaboratively with grade level, content, and grade level teams through weekly meetings to assist with intervention strategies

6.     Work collaboratively with counselors and other support staff to monitor MTSS plans

7.     Develop MTSS program goals and objectives, planning and implementation, and evaluation procedures that ensure results for Westwood

8.     Coordinate the acquisition or materials and equipment needed to support MTSS interventions

9.     Manage, analyze, and utilize student data at each tier to ensure that interventions are matched to student need, carried out with fidelity, and intensified based on data

10.  Work collaboratively with staff to implement Social Emotional programs at Westwood

11.  Work collaboratively to support the Behavior Intervention programs and staff

12.  Train and provide ongoing professional development to all stakeholders about the MTSS structure, components, and interventions established at Westwood

13.  Collection of student data and analysis according to the district guidelines for MTSS

14.  Perform all other duties as assigned

                                                regulations and the terms established in the negotiated      

                                                agreement
