TITLE OF POSITION: School Psychologist
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Special Services or Building Principal
CONTRACT PERIOD: 193 Days- Classified Position within the Bargaining unit
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of an Education Specialist Degree
CERTIFICATION: Valid Kansas School Psychology License
EXPERIENCE Required: Experience preferred
The School Psychologist will identify and assess the learning- development- and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups of students- as well as- the environmental factors that may affect the learning and adjustment of students. Daily- the school psychologist will work with school personnel to coordinate and facilitate evaluations- evaluation meetings- pre-staffings- as well as develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs)- and identify/recommend research-based interventions. Moreover- the School Psychologist will provide consultation to parents- teachers- other school personnel- and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students. The position requires an individual to apply ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observe relevant laws and policies that govern practice. The School Psychologist will report directly to the building principals and Special Education Administration.

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for certification in Speech-Language Pathology in Kansas.

The Fort Leavenworth School District has been a part of the educational system of the State of Kansas since 1901. Geographically, it is composed entirely of federal property and includes Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery and the U. S. Federal Penitentiary. The buildings, which belong to the school district, are located on land leased from the federal government. We are a Kansas Public School System. We do not have any connection with the Department of Defense Dependent School System. The district provides instruction for grades K - 9 in addition to half day preschool for 4 year olds meeting current residency requirements. The post schools operate under the provisions of Kansas State Law, applicable federal laws, and regulations of the U. S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.

District facilities consist of four schools, and one central administration building. The district also has a warehouse and transportation center. All schools have at least the following: auditorium, gymnasium, full service kitchen, cafeteria, technology classrooms, two computer labs, separate art and music rooms and a full service library media center. All schools are maintained in excellent condition.
