Heartspring currently has an opening for a Special Education Teacher.
At Heartspring School, we provide our teachers with exceptional professional and physical resources, so they can really make a difference!
Our Special Education teachers provide year-round instruction to children with low and high incidence disabilities (autism, sensory impairment, moderate to severe developmental and behavior problems) in self-contained classrooms. Students at Heartspring range in age from 5-21 years old. Classrooms are assigned by age and functional ability.
Our teachers design and implement Individual Education Programs to meet each student`s specific needs. We offer small class sizes and high staff/student ratios with collaborative team support of medical, psychology and therapy support services provided based on individual student need.
Requires a degree in Special Education and Kansas K-12 certification. Prefer MS with experience in multiple disabilities. Adaptive and Functional Endorsements also preferred. Will consider 6-12 and other certifications if willing to obtain necessary coursework while employed.
The Heartspring School is a therapeutic residential and day school program for children with severe developmental disabilities from across the United States. Many of these children cannot be served adequately through programs in their home school districts and look to Heartspring for its unique individualized programming, which utilizes evidence-based and emerging best practices. Students often have multiple diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, speech and language impairments, visual impairments and other developmental disabilities.
