USD 456 - Marais des Cygnes Valley has an opening for a PK-12 social worker for the 2019-2020 school year.
The PK-12 social worker will provide social/emotional support for district students at both MdCV Elementary School and MdCV Junior High/High School. Responsibilities will include student social/emotional support, in-class character education, referral to outside resources for parents and students, collaboration with district homeless liaison, truancy officer and other at-risk coordinators, communication with district certified staff, and leadership of SECD standards within the district.
Ability to build effective supportive relationships with students. Provide valuable intervention assistance for students. Establish beneficial collaboration with classroom teachers. Understanding of socioeconomic factors for involved stakeholders. Knowledge of classroom leadership. Strong background in community resource management.
Required: Bachelor`s degree in social work. Preferred: Previous experience in an education setting.
Candidates must hold a valid Kansas social work license.

The Marais des Cygnes Valley school district is a 1A school located in NE Kansas (40 miles South of Topeka, 20 miles West of Ottawa, 30 miles East of Emporia, and 20 miles North of Burlington) and has two locations: Elementary School (PreK - 5) located in Quenemo, KS, and a Jr/Sr High School located in Melvern, KS.
