Administrative Assistant - 500 Reach Virtual Learning Center

Greenbush - The Education Service Center is seeking applications for an Administrative Assistant at 500 Reach Virtual Learning Center.

 

The administrative assistant will work both virtually and at the learning center located near Legends in Kansas City, KS. Responsibilities include answering phone calls and emails, administering student enrollments/transfers/exits, record keeping, communicating with area high schools regarding student records, administering data collection for external and internal reporting and administering student laptop rentals. Previous evidence using Microsoft Office, Google suite products, a student information system and effective communication skills are required. 500 Reach is a virtual school administered by Greenbush for USD 500 Kansas City, KS.

 

Anticipated start date: January 4, 2021. Position will remain open until filled. Equal Opportunity Employer.

 

Purpose: The Administrative Assistant for a Virtual Learning Center (VLC) program will assist with the day-to-day educational operations in the Virtual Learning Center under the supervision of the Site Coordinator/designee. The Administrative Assistant aids in compiling reports and other clerical duties as requested by the Site Coordinator/designee.

 

Responsible to: VLC Site Coordinator or his/her designee

 

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a high school diploma or certificate of equivalency. Associate’s degree or college hours preferred.

2. Prior experience in education and clerical work helpful, but not required.

3. Must be able to work with Microsoft Office applications, Google applications, and have good computer skills.

4. Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.

5. Very dependable work attendance history required.

6. Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines.

7. Requires ability to set priorities and attention to detail.

8. Requires good communication and time-management skills.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

1. Demonstrate appropriate communication and listening skills with students, co-workers, supervisors, and visitors including answering VLC site phone calls.

2. Responsible for student registrations in the district Student Information Systems as well as assigning students to teachers and enrolling in the curriculum software.

3. Responsible for student record keeping including, but not limited to, enrollment data and demographic data .

4. Responsible for generating reports from the district Student Information Systems as needed.

5. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward all students, staff, and parents by showing respect for the worth and dignity of each student.

6. Accurately communicating with other districts and their staff as needed for student enrollment and data collection.

7. Assist with count day data collection.

8. Responsible for student laptop rentals and site laptop inventory.

9. Support the philosophy, mission and policies of Greenbush and the participating school districts.

10. Attend required VLC in-service meetings and staff development.

11. Is reliable, punctual; completes duties promptly accurately, and according to time lines.

12. Maintain supply list, inventory and order supplies as needed/requested with approval.

13. Demonstrate ongoing professional growth and skill development.

14. Carry out other duties as assigned

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time, working on computer for long periods of time, less than 25% travel and the ability to lift up to 40pounds.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract is determined annually by the SEKESC Board of Education.
