Position Objectives:           

The activities director oversees all student athletic and activity programs. Work with the Head School Principal in a team setting to assure compliance with the policies and procedures of the Board of Education- federal- state- and local laws- regulations and mandates.  Responsible for facilities used for the programs and the development and maintenance of a vigorous activities program consistent with the overall educational goals and programs of the district.

Reports To:            Head Building Principal

Essential Responsibilities:

• Completes necessary tests and paperwork to fulfill KSHSAA requirements.
• Implements effective procedures for promoting safety for all activities- inside and outside of regular school hours.
• Provides coaching/activities handbook- where appropriate- for all sponsors/coaches- students and parents.
• Monitors the use of the facility through proper processing of building openings by USD 409 staff and community.
• Develops and recommends to Head Building Principal/Superintendent of Schools an activity budget that is reflective of available funds and staff needs.
• Supervises the expenditure of budgets within the activity budget.
• Supervises and evaluates all individuals with an activity supplemental contract in collaboration with the school administrative team.
• Organizes- administers- coordinates- and evaluates the school activity program.
• Develops- implements- supervises- and evaluates athletic/activities procedures ensuring coordination between schools.
• Assigns all coaches and assistant coaches after conferring with head coaches- principal and superintendent.
• Establishes and approves all game schedules.
• Schedules and approves the use of district facilities for all practices and games.
• Hires and assigns game officials- supervisors- scorekeepers- markers- ticket takers for home events.
• Ensures that proper supervision is available for away games.
• Arranges all building transportation- meals- and lodging for away events where applicable.
• Develops and implements appropriate rules and regulations concerning the conduct at school contests.
• Ensures that the district is in compliance with all KSHSAA rules- regulations- and by laws.
• Meets on a regular basis with all coaches and handles all personnel problems associated with the activities program.
• Serves as tournament director for any tournaments hosted by the district.
• Reviews- administers- and provides an appropriate insurance program covering activity participants.
• Supervises all ticket sales- fund raising- and funds associated with the activities program.
• Supervises personnel who maintain athletic fields and facilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
