Summary: Marion County Special Education Cooperative is seeking a Interpreter for Deaf and Hard of Hearing to assist students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing or experience communication delays. MCSEC would prefer someone trained in ASL, PSE, and/or SEE, but would be willing to train. The Interpreter for Deaf and Hard of Hearing will help in a resource classroom setting with daily activities and student management using American Sign Language or SEE (Sign Exact English). The Interpreter will act as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing mentor modeling a high standard of sign language.
Job Requirements/Work Experience: · Pass a screening of utilization of signing skills. · Encouraged to take the ESSE/EIPA competency test yearly. · One (1) year of work experience comparable to that of a Teacher Assistant - Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services and completion of 24 college credits in sign language studies, child development or closely related courses. Or Three (3) years of work experience comparable to that of a Teacher Assistant - Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services and completion of 12 college credits in sign language studies, child development, or related field. Or Five (5) years or work experience comparable to that of a Teacher Assistant - Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services

WHAT`S NEW: In 2018 MCSEC and Tabor College have partnered to form the Tabor College Project SEARCH, an educational transition program for older students with disabilities. Our Project SEARCH is a hybrid program that accepts interns from 18-30 years of age. The interns rotate through various departments of the college working in 3 different internship sites over the school year. Marion County has truly been blessed with this wonderful opportunity to further serve older students with disabilities.
