High School Principal

McPherson High School has an opening for a Principal effective for the 2021/2022 school year.  This is a full time position and comes with a full benefit package.  Starting date for position is July 1- 2021.

 

 

Job Title:    McPherson High School Principal

 

Qualifications

1. Current administrative certificate issued by the Kansas State Department of Education.
2. A minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience and as a secondary principal or assistant principal.

 

Reports to:  Superintendent of Schools

 

Supervises:  Directly – the assistant principals- teachers- counselors- AVTS coordinator- secretaries- and bookkeeper.

                     Indirectly – all other personnel employed in the high school.

 

Job Goals:

To provide leadership to insure a quality educational program that will present students the opportunity to develop their abilities and interests to their full potential- a qualified and effective staff- adequate materials and equipment- and an attractive school plant.

 

Basic Responsibilities:

To be the instructional leader responsible for the general supervision of the high school 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Provide assistance to certified staff members to improve teaching skills. Supervise and coordinate the evaluation of all certified staff. Participate with the superintendent and associate superintendent in recommending the selection of high school staff- and make recommendations to the superintendent concerning the retention- release- and transfer of staff.
2. Acquaint all staff members with current building policies and procedures- assignments and responsibilities- physical facilities- equipment and materials available; and provide for orientation of new staff members.
3. Provide for the supervision of school facilities- grounds- and equipment- and the evaluation of the personnel responsible for school facilities- grounds- and equipment.
4. Administer the district and student activity funds- provide accurate accounting of all funds in accordance with district policy and strive for maximum benefits from fund expended.
5. Operate the school in a manner in which will endeavor to ensure the health and safety of student and staff- and to provide procedures for proper care for ill or injured students.
6. Delegate appropriate responsibilities to the assistant principals- the supervisor of the area vocational technical school- and other staff members qualified for the responsibilities assigned for the most efficient operation of all phases of the school program.
7. Participate in curriculum planning and revision and prepare scheduled necessary to carry out the program.
8. Operate the school in compliance with Kansas statues- the policies of the board of education- regulations of the Kansas State Department of Education- and regulations of the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
9. Participate in professional organizations related to the secondary principalship- read current professional literature and attend conventions and workshops to keep abreast of chances in secondary education.
10. Manage a student records system that meets the requirement of the board of education- State of Kansas- and the federal government.
11. Promote positive interactions between home and school through students- staff and parents.
12. Represent the high school throughout the community through participation in nonschool activities and organizations.
13. Carry out the duties and responsibilities assigned by the superintendent.

 

Terms of Employment

Twelve (12) months a year with twenty (20) vacation days plus holidays as recognized by board policy.

 

Evaluation

Performance of job will be evaluated in accordance with board of education policy.
