FLSA: Exempt Professional
QUALIFICATIONS: Master`s degree from an accredited university/college. Teaching experience preferred. School Counseling experience preferred. Demonstrated success in mediation & relationship building. Knowledge of Kansas School Counseling and Social Emotional Character Development Curricular Standards.
REPORTS TO: Principal
OVERVIEW: The school counselor assists students in becoming responsible adults. Students develop individual plans of study to encourage career exploration and post secondary educational planning. The counselor helps students attain the optimal level of personal and social development.

Facilitate informational sessions for students and parents. Assist administrators with the distribution and interpretation of assessment data for students and parents. Support the overall district’s educational program through general consultation activities and committee work. Connect students and parents to appropriate community resources. Consult with teachers- staff- and parents regarding the developmental needs of students. Counsel small groups and individual students. Implement the school counseling and social emotional and character development curricular standards.
