Supervises: Students Grades 6-8
BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE The Special Education teacher provides leads the creation and implementation of a specialized designed instructional program that increases opportunities for students receiving special education services in the least restrictive environment. Critical Skills

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
4. Review IEP and Evaluation files to ensure that they meet all regulatory and district standards, are written to reflect best practice, reflect high quality programming and are implemented with integrity. 5. Submit all required documentation to the district office in a timely manner. 6. Enter accurate data into the district student information system in a timely manner. 7. Possess knowledge legal regulations governing our program. 8. Utilize data to guide the focus of student IEPs and improve student achievement. 9. Supervise, provide professional development, and coordinate the scheduling of paraprofessionals. 10. Assist with the integration of exceptional students into the general education program. 11. Keep informed regarding new technologies that facilitate and support student learning. 12. Communicate clearly and accurately with administrators, staff, parents, students and agencies. 13. Plan and implement transition services for students. 14. Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state, and federal laws. 15. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and re-evaluation process. 16. Assist general education teachers in the development and implementation of universal design methods, curricular modifications, and appropriate classroom strategies. 17. Provide demonstration of effective teaching practices within the classroom. 18. Establish mentoring relationships among teachers to support inclusion activities. 19. Intervene and provide support with discipline problems of exceptional students. 20. Oversee the collection, analysis and interpretation of evaluative data regarding exceptional students in general education settings. 21. Uphold and enforce Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, and federal and state regulations including but not limited to Kansas Plan for Special Education Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs Acceptable use of technology Sexual and racial harassment Child abuse reporting 22. Additional duties as assigned by building principal/Executive Director of Special Education Term of Employment: Teacher Contract Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.
