Technology Director

JOB SUMMARY:    To support the students and employees of USD 430 as they use information technology in meeting the learning, communication, and data management needs of the district.  This is done through planning, managing, and maintaining the district’s information technology infrastructure; through communicating about technology issues with staff members, administrators and the Board of Education; through implementing new uses of technology needed by the district; through coordinating and facilitating training sessions; through assisting with technology curriculum development at all levels within the district; and through investigating and cooperating in seeking grant opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:           

  • Must hold a Degree in technology
  • Demonstrates practical experience and technical training in district computer operations, applications, and networking
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Knowledge of computer-network and software applications utilized within the school district
  • Knowledge in DOS, Windows OS, Linux and network systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Networking experience preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIORNMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials not over 50lbs
  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, and use of equipment
  • Must hold a valid Kansas driver’s license and ability to drive a vehicle
  • Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, intense work environment

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.         To plan, manage, install (or direct installation of), maintain and support the district’s technology infrastructure including the following systems:

  • Network cabling, wireless, switching systems, servers and server operating systems
  • Network security, data protection, disaster protection and recovery
  • Network printing connections and processes
  • Internet access system including connection, firewall, proxy, and filtering for CIPA compliance
  • Internet email system including connection, servers, spam filtering and account maintenance.
  • Supervision of USD 430’s web site
    • Computer workstation hardware, operating systems, and software
  • Peripherals related to computer productivity including printers, scanners, projectors, chrome books, etc.
  • Various software systems throughout the district
  • Google Amin Console
  • Productivity software used by students, staff, and administrators
  • Provide resource/reference support for information systems that impact the network infrastructure and/or USD 430 users

            

2.         Provides technical support and assist users with troubleshooting and resolving technology related problems and provides maintenance as needed.                     

 

3.         Collaborate in planning training sessions and facilitate the training of staff members in the use of computer hardware and software systems.

 

4.         Communicate with administrators and staff members about technology needs and improvements and assist in planning and upgrading to meet the technology needs of the district.

 

5.         Maintains district-wide inventory of computer hardware and software. 

 

6.         Serves as a liaison with outside service and supply vendors.

 

7.         Assist administrators in creating and administering technology user policies for students and staff per district policies and practice

 

8.         Lead the District Technology Committee and coordinate the implementation evaluation and revision of the district’s technology plan

                        

9.         Coordinates and monitors the appropriate use of internet and software.

 

10.       Maintains a secure listing of all passwords for the district.

 

11.       Maintain current knowledge on state and federal requirements in the areas of technology

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:       Full time 12 month position
