Position Summary:
STARBASE Academies are a Department of Defense educational program designed to raise the
interest and improve the knowledge and skills of at-risk youth in math, science, and technology by
exposing them to the technological environment and positive role models found on military bases
and installations.
 

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for classroom instruction, conducts student and teacher evaluations, maintains
discipline and safety of students participating in the STARBASE program. Assists in curriculum
and test development, gathers and prepares related materials, coordinates enrichment activities
and other activities. Develops and coordinates schedules. Coordinates enrollment for program
academies and projects while organizing and managing classrooms. Compiles and submits
statistical, financial and related reports. Assists in implementing projects related to public
information, promotional activities, STARBASE 2.0, and STARBASE Outreach Opportunities.
Assists and actively pursues curriculum development both at the local and national levels.
Maintains facilities, prepares equipment and supplies. Coordinates volunteer participation and
teaching.
 

STARBASE 2.0 and STARBASE 3.0 programs, performing/assisting with all outreach opportunities
in the community, learning new technology that has been acquired, etc.

Occasional overnight travel regarding national STARBASE meetings and training is required.
State-wide travel to participate in staff development, program development, and school visits is
also required.


Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor`s degree in Education from an accredited College or University.
Licensing & Certification:
Must possess a current teaching license/certificate as a condition of employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three (3) years of teaching experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics (STEM) fields. Must have strong organizational skills and an understanding of
administrative procedures. Must be flexible and team oriented with the ability to multi task.
Requires strong STEM knowledge. Must have strong computer, technology, written and oral
skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer five (5) years of teaching experience in elementary education or STEM related field.
Required: Must have a valid Driver`s License and the ability to obtain and
maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance as a Condition of
Employment.
