Band & Vocal Music Teacher

USD #452 Stanton County Kansas is seeking a band and/or vocal music teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. This position currently teaches band and vocal music to grades 5-12. The district would consider a band or vocal music only program for the right candidate.

Position Benefits and Supplemental Contracts
 

  1. Coaching and other supplemental duties may be available but aren`t required.
  2. 2021-2022 annual base salary is: $40,000.
  3. Benefits include paid time off days.
  4. District reimburses college hours and allows the user to advance on the pay scale.
  5. The district provides a one-time stipend of $1,000 for ESL endorsed, certified staff. After the initial $1,000 stipend the staff member will receive a $500 annual stipend for being ESL endorsed.
  6. The district provides single health insurance coverage.
  7. Stanton County participates in the Rural Opportunity Zones student loan repayment program. Once residence has been established, qualifying applicants receive $3,000 per year for five years for a total benefit of $15,000 to pay for student loan expenses.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 

  1. Knowledge of current course content, teaching methods, educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  2. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  3. Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  5. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications Profile
 

  1. Kansas State Certification as a Music Education Teacher or the ability to obtain one.
  2. Motor Vehicle Operator`s License or ability to provide own transportation.

Education
 

  1. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment preferred.

The town of Johnson is located in far southwest Kansas. USD 452 is a KSHSAA 2A district with 265 students in the Pre-K thru 6th; & 195 students 7th-12th. 

Certified Staff: 2021-2022 base salary is $40,000; with 5 years’ experience $41,900; Masters with -0- years’ experience $43,000. Benefits include paid time off days. All buildings are air-conditioned, and the High School has an indoor pool. Student/teacher ratio is approximately 18/1. Every 7th through 12th-grade student has a Chromebook, as well as Chromebooks in the Elementary classrooms.  Each teacher has been provided a personal Chromebook. Possible sponsorships and supplemental contracts available. Computer labs/internet access in each building.
