Mental Health Interventionist

Reports to:  Principal

 

Purpose:  Provides support to students who need mental health support services.

 

Qualifications

  • Meet requirements of a Kansas Teaching License
  • Knowledge of the Common Core Standards- intervention strategies- assessments- and intervention resources
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students- school personnel- and parents
  • ESOL endorsement preferred

Physical and Emotional Requirements:  Speaking- hearing- visual- reading- writing- word processing- mobility- consistency of temperament- ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver targeted supports in a small group- individual- and/or classroom setting
  • Deliver and use assessment results to diagnose areas of need and make service decisions that address students’ needs
  • Use research-based strategies that meet students’ emotional- learning- and social needs 
  • Coordinate planning and communicate students’ performance with teachers- instructional coach- and principal 
  • Use district-approved resources- which includes both primary and supplemental resources
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress to teachers and parents

 

Terms of Employment:  9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

 

Evaluation:  Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.

 

Significant associations:  The performance responsibilities are not limited to those outlined in this description and may include any other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator/supervisor.
